We are not superwoman #truth #notthatgirl
I often hear people say, “Girl, I don’t know how you do it! There’s no way I can do what you do. I don’t have the patience for it.” By “it”, they’re referring to how I manage to be a wife, raise five children, run two home-based businesses, maintain sanity, and still be active in serving the Lord.
I would like to put a silencer on that smoking gun. There is nothing in me that can do any of what I do without the help of God. No, really. If the credit belonged to me, I would be tempted to take it. However, I am fully aware that when the clock strikes 7:45 AM I wake my children up and head downstairs to begin the first of three meals that I will cook for the day and prepare their schoolwork for the day. My hope and prayer is always that they will not say one ungrateful comment or slap their sibling. Haha! Believe it or not, those days do actually manifest. HALLELUJAH!
There are days when I do not move from my bed. Those days are very few and far between. Mothers, we seldom get the recognition that we deserve. Yet, we make a vow within ourselves to keep pressing on and being who we are. Mothers are beings that cannot be matched on earth. Our strength, love, care, and touch melts even the most rebellious child and brings them to us with open arms and melted hearts.
How is it that we can just keep going and going specifically when it feels like our wheels are about to fall off and we're screaming, "Jesus, take the wheel!"? We are that Proverbs 31 woman. To those of you shaking your head in utter disagreement and disbelief, I challenge you to read and study this chapter of Proverbs. It’s amazing how we match her qualities.
Come on, Ladies! I am speaking to you today. I am encouraging you to see who you are. Many times we look in the mirror and we see so much. Some of us see a horror story while others see style and grace; yet, when we leave that mirror we forget who and whose we are. No more!
As I read of the Proverbs 31 woman, I recognize her humility, strength, and code of ethic. She was a very determined woman. She was not afraid of anything. This woman was focused. Nothing stopped her from completing her daily tasks no matter how big or small. Her family was well taken care of regardless of the weather. Even her handmaidens were shown great appreciation on a daily basis.
This woman is who we are and we don’t even know it. We are more than what we have given ourselves credit for but now I salute you. I’m sending praises your way. Dare to produce fruit that you have never produced. Step out and do what you have never done. Take your rightful place as the Proverbs 31 woman. She will never be forgotten and neither will you.
This Proverbs 31 woman shows a great example of a woman's ability to multi-task and stretch herself beyond her mental limits. This story is a demonstration of a woman's ability to go through with grace. No we are not “Superwomen”. We are Proverbs 31 women.
Elizabeth George has such a sweet and gentle way of explaining how to become even more of a woman after God's own heart.
Have a blessed day.
